First GRASS CARP ever!

What a blast it was! Dad and I decided to go turkey hunting this past Saturday and just had some jakes stroll bye and the big boys were all "henned up" and not budging. It was tough hunting so we decided to fish our farm pond for the first time this year. We didnt think we would have much luck because the water wa the lowest we have ever seen it and very murky. After a few cast with a a chartruese curly tail jig and pink jig head i hooked a 5 pound channel cat and dad also reeled in a 2.5 pound bass. I began to to walk around to the other side of the pond and was making casts along the side of the bank about 20 feet out and all of a sudden I seen a wake coming for my lure so I slowed down my presentation and BAM! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ line was stripping off my medium action rod and reel! I thought for sure it was a big channel cat but after battling this TANK of a fish I was suprised to see it was a grass carp or white amure carp. Dad had several stocked in the pond to keep the moss down at least 8 to 10 years ago. 20 mintues after hooking this beast and battling him to dry land I was taking pictures of my first ever Grass Carp! 24 POUNDS!

2011 Archery Deer

I shot this deer on Friday, November 25 2011. It was just getting light enough to see and thats when I looked on the hillside to the west of me and saw a buck skyline the crest othe hill. I grunted at him and a few seconds later I hear something crashing thru the grass to the South. I heard a deer grunt and noticed a different deer trotting right to me. There was just enough light to see my pins and noticed that this deer had a decent frame on him and that was all it took to prompt me that he was a shooter! He came right in front of me and then I went "meeeh!" and he stopped and turned at a slight angle 25 yards away, and then I let the arrow fly. I could see I had good shot placement but the arrow did not pass thru. I watched him trot away around the bend to where I could not see him any longer. I looked at my phone to see the time and it was 7:12 am. I then called my dad and texted my bro-n-law, Travis, and buddy Scott and my uncle Charlie who were all hunting different stands that morning. I told them that I hit a decent buck and was going to give it until 9:30 to look for him.
